I was on a 6 night Raja Ampat liveaboard diving adventure on the beautiful Sea Safari 8 earlier this year. I will never forget this trip. It was truly life changing and definitely one of the most exciting adventures I've ever been on. From the moment we landed in Sorong we received first rate service from the wonderful crew. The boat itself is beautiful and comfortable. An authentic Indonesian ship made from traditional wood as I remember it. The first day we set sail I witnessed the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen and that was just the start. I had a queen bed cabin to myself on the upper deck. It was spacious, comfortable and kept very clean by the hard working crew throughout the trip. Whatever I needed, they made it happen. The diving was incredible. Gorgeous corral formations and absolutely teeming with a myriad of marine life. The highlights for me were encounters with the indigenous Wobbegong sharks and the Manta Ray encounters. The schools of fish were so plentiful that they literally blocked out the sunlight! I've never experienced anything like it. The guides were super experienced, attentive, and just wonderful people. I was lucky to have a guide that never missed a beat and made sure I was safe and having the best possible experience, on every single dive. The pre-dive briefs were excellent as well with highly detailed drawings and safety information. Then there was the social aspect and the meals. I loved the group of people I was with and ended up having a blast over every meal. The crew worked so hard to make sure every detail was taken care of and I genuinely enjoyed every meal, a mix of Indonesian and international fare. I also want to thank Mark Brodersen (Cruise Director) specifically for his exceptional service and patience with my endless questions prior to and after the cruise. From the moment I reached out to the company, Mark took very good care of me and went completely out of his way to help me out with whatever I needed. When I landed in Jakarta I realized I had forgotten some important items and Mark made sure to have them provided to me upon my arrival. Just incredible service and I really appreciated it. Our boat, with 12 passengers, departed the port town of Sorong on Papua New Guinea for a 9 day snorkeling trip in the area called Raja Ampat, which is now mostly within a national park. The boat and cabins were small but comfy, the food good and plentiful. The guides were amazing, friendly, knowledgeable, and in the water with us pointing out fish and other colorful sea animals, including coral. This was my best snorkeling experience ever and the coral was healthy, lots of beautifully colored fish. I highly recommend it. Go see it while it lasts.
